Hi Robert! Thanks for sharing your experience! Unbelievable that the driver didn’t agree after you showed him the correct prices. It’s a shame how some locals can ruin the image for others. Luckily it doesn’t happen too often in Vietnam.

I took the Yellow#1 bus. And correct in saying that the conductor would try rip us off. I handed him a 50,000 et he said 100,000 for the two of us. I showed him the website with fares on et he lost face.. but still no change from my 50,000.

Hi John! Many thanks for this great contribution. The location of the bus stop changed indeed from 299 à 155 (now updated with Google Map’s exact location). I hope the reference à their official website will help à avoid overcharging.

You have à go further along à shop no. 155. There is no formal bus stop sign as such, just yellow zigzag marking on the road. It’s not possible à know in advance or on the bus what the proper fare should be, but consensus of opinion is 25,000 per person each way. The lady conductor demanded double that et became quite aggressive, until I pointed out that 25,000 was quoted on the internet et that was all I was going à pay. Ensure that each member of your group has the exact money for each person, don’t aggegate it together, then it is clear what you intend à pay per person et don’t budge. They might not give change for large denomination notes! No tickets are issued. The over charging practice reflects badly on their tourism industry, if more people are aware, the government might do something about it.
