This pop culture theme continues throughout the whole temple, so keep your eye out for the likes of Darth Vader and Iron Man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, photography is only permitted around the exterior of the temple, so you can\u2019t take photos inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not all, next door the artwork continues at the Chalermchai Kositpipat gallery with beautiful pieces from both Chalermchai himself and other local artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to visit the White Temple<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Entrance to the temple is 100 baht, which is open from 9 am to 5 pm. These range from day trips to 2-3 day explorations, with stays in rustic hilltop homestays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our favourite hikes is to the peak of Phu Chi Fa, a 2 &#8211; 2.5-hour drive outside of Chiang Rai. The hike to the top is only about 1 kilometre, so can be done in around 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you reach the top, it\u2019s hard not to be stunned by the landscape that spans in front of you! You\u2019ll be rewarded with panoramic views of valleys, villages, Laos and part of the Mekong River. These springs are actually too hot to bathe in as they\u2019re 65 degrees celsius! It\u2019s quite crazy that a natural spring can reach temperatures that high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t worry though, 1 km away is <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/ubbz3GmPxHYAW26w7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pong Phra Soet Hot Spring<\/a> that offers both public and private pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/5TwuYZsG1hAXHrWq6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nam Roo<\/a> has to take the crown, though. It\u2019s 120 km outside the city, but trust us the journey is worth it! This naturally heated lake is Mother Nature&#8217;s idea of an infinity pool.
