How to get from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a high-rise resort town in southeast Vietnam. Regarded as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, it boasts of a crescent-shaped white sand beach and clear turquoise waters.

Also known as the seafood capital of Vietnam, Nha Trang is bustling with many offerings – from dining choices to pagodas and sculpture gardens as well as a very vibrant nightlife. But if those are not enough, you can always visit the many islands nearby via boat or by cable car.

2 ways to get from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang

When travelling the 210 km journey from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang, you have 2 options: you can either take a 4.5-hour train or a 6-hour bus. Rates start from 150,000 VND ($6) and 367,000 VND ($14.50), respectively.

We recommend taking the train from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang. Travelling by train is cheap and convenient because both train stations are very easy to reach from the city centres. Train fares start from 150,000 VND ($6).

The bus ride from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang is more expensive and does not offer any advantage over the train. Ticket prices start from 367,000 VND ($14.50) and the travel time by bus is around 6 hours. This is why we think it would be much better to take the train over the bus.

There is an airport (Phu Cat) about a 1-hour drive from Quy Nhon, but there are no direct flights to Nha Trang. Taking an indirect flight will be more expensive and will take even longer than the train or bus.

We recommend travelling from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang by train. It’s more convenient and cheaper than taking the bus.

Step 1: Quy Nhon to Dieu Tri Railway Station

Although there is a train station in Quy Nhon, this isn’t part of the Reunification Express Line. This means that trains operating from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang don’t depart from Quy Nhon Railway Station, but from the nearby Dieu Tri Train Station.

Dieu Tri is located some 10 km west of Quy Nhon city centre. You can get there by hailing Bus T22 from the bus stop along Le Duan St., near Coopmart in Quy Nhon centre. A ticket costs around 20,000 VND ($0.80) for the 30-minute journey.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi for around 200,000 VND ($8), depending on your hotel’s location.

Step 2: Dieu Tri to Nha Trang by Train

There are 5 trains operating daily from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang via Dieu Tri. Train fares start from 130,000 VND ($5) for a soft seat. Sleeper berths are also available for higher prices.

The train journey to Nha Trang Railway Station takes around 4 hours. You can find this station 2 km west of the main beach.

There are a couple of buses available daily from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang.

Travel time takes 4-6 hours, depending on which bus you take. Ticket prices start from 367,000 VND ($14.50).

Ha Linh and Thanh Thuy are the main bus operators from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang. We recommend travelling with Ha Linh because their buses depart and arrive near the centre of both cities.

Departure stations

Ha Linh buses depart from the Big C, some 4 km south of Quy Nhon city centre. You can get there by taxi with fares from 70,000 VND ($2.85) or by motorbike taxi for around 25,000 VND ($1).

Thanh Thuy, on the other hand, departs 8 km northwest of Quy Nhon city centre. The taxi ride to get to its bus station in Quy Nhon will cost around 200,000 VND ($8).
