Camiguin is a beautiful island located southwest of Bohol. It boasts a serene vibe, gorgeous beaches, hot and cold springs, and stunning waterfalls. It’s one of the smallest islands in the Philippines but still gets its fair share of tourists. It’s definitely worth your time to spend 2 or 3 days here.

Also called the “Island Born of Fire,” Camiguin has the most number of volcanoes per square kilometre in the world. Even now, volcanic activity continues to reshape the island, making it a very interesting place to visit.

When travelling the 130 km distance from Bohol to Camiguin, you only have 1 option: a combined bus and ferry ride that costs 790 PHP ($13.50). The journey takes about 6 hours.

You’ll have to take a 2-hour bus to Jagna Port, and then a 4-hour ferry to Camiguin. The ferry journey from Bohol to Camiguin is pretty straightforward, just note that ferries operating on this route are only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

There is no direct option from the main tourist area in Bohol to Camiguin. You first need to get to Jagna Port, from where the only ferry bound for Camiguin departs from.

Step 1: Tagbilaran to Jagna Port by Bus

Jagna Port is located some 65 km east of Tagbilaran City. The cheapest and easiest way to get there is by bus. Head to Dao Bus Terminal in Tagbilaran City centre and hop on a bus bound for Jagna Port.

A ticket costs 150 PHP ($2.60) and the bus journey takes about 2 hours because it makes a lot of stops.

A faster and more convenient option would be to take a taxi from your hotel to Jagna Port. Depending on your location, taxi rates range from 2,500 PHP ($43.50) to 3,000 PHP ($52). Travel time with the taxi is 1.5 hours.

Super Shuttle Ferry offers one trip from Bohol to Camiguin every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This departs from Jagna at 13:00 and arrives in Camiguin at 17:00. Travel time is around 4 hours.

A ferry ticket costs 640 PHP ($11) and you can buy them only at the pier. It’s best to arrive there with at least 30 minutes to spare to be assured of a seat.
