How to travel from and to Hue Airport (Phu Bai)
Phu Bai International Airport or Hue Airport is located 15 km southeast of Hue city centre. It is one of the main entry ports in Central Vietnam.
When travelling the 15 km distance from Hue Airport to Hue city centre, you have 3 options: a 30-minute taxi, a 30-minute shuttle bus, or a 45-minute public bus. Rates are from 7,000 VND ($0.25) to 270,000 VND ($11.50).
3 ways to get from Hue Airport to Hue City Centre
If you’re travelling in a group or with a companion, we recommend taking a taxi from Hue Airport to the city centre. A taxi saves you the hassle of finding your hotel on foot and brings you straight to your hotel’s doorstep for around 270,000 VND ($11.50).
*The shuttle bus is an affordable and still convenient alternative to the taxi. A shuttle bus ticket from Hue Airport to the city centre costs only 70,000 VND ($2.95). This isn’t a door-to-door transfer though, so you may still have to walk or take a short taxi ride to your destination.
The public bus is the cheapest transport option you can find at Hue Airport. You can get a ticket for as low as 7,000 VND ($0.25) to the city centre. It’s worth noting that public buses make a lot of stops and are often jam-packed, making it slower than taxis and shuttle buses.

Hue Airport by Taxi
Taking a taxi from Hue Airport to Hue city centre is convenient because you won’t have to worry about finding your hotel on foot. That makes it easier when you’re carrying bulky luggage.
Also, the taxi is cost-efficient if you’re travelling in a group. Taxi rates start from 270,000 VND ($11.50).

Hue Airport by Shuttle Bus*
*COVID-19 UPDATE (July 2022): We couldn’t confirm if the shuttle bus from and to Hue Airport has already resumed.
Shuttle buses are also available just outside Hue Airport. A ticket costs around 70,000 VND ($2.95) and you can buy them onsite.
Buses depart every 30 minutes as long as there is an arriving flight. So you don’t have to worry about missing the bus even if you arrive at night.
Do note that these shuttle buses don’t have a lot of space for bulky luggage.
Departure and arrival station
You can find the shuttle buses at the airport parking lot.
Travel time from Hue Airport to the city centre is around 30 minutes. Buses park at Vietnam Airlines or VietJet Air office along Hanoi St. From here, you can walk or take a short taxi ride to your accommodation.
If you want to take the shuttle bus from the city centre to the airport, you can simply go back to where they dropped you off at the shared office building of Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air.
Hue Airport by Public Bus
If you’re on a budget, you can consider taking a public bus from Hue Airport to the city centre. Keep in mind that this option is only for people who are carrying small luggage and don’t mind getting on a fully-packed bus.
Public buses in Hue are quite efficient, but they are widely used by both tourists and locals. This means that there will be a lot of passengers getting in and out of the bus throughout your journey.
With the public bus, a ticket costs 5,000 VND ($0.20) to South Bus Station and 7,000 VND ($0.25) to North Bus Station. The bus makes several stops in town and you can get off at the nearest bus stop to your accommodation.
You can take Bus #2 or Bus #11 to get to and from Hue Airport. Travel time is around 45 minutes, depending on where you’re headed in the city centre.
Departure station
Most of the time, public buses are already parked outside of Hue Airport.
They depart approximately every 30 minutes. In case you can’t find any public bus, you can walk for about 10 minutes to Phu Bai Airport intersection and hail a bus from there.
Bus #2 route from Hue Airport
Bus #2 buses are available from 04:45 in the morning to 21:45 in the evening. They follow this route from the airport to Hue city centre and make the same stops on the way back:
