How To Get From Yangon to Bagan?

Yangon is the largest city of Myanmar and the country’s most important commercial and industrial hub. Far from the hustle and bustle of Yangon, and almost 700 kilometers to the North,  lies the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Bagan.

Situated in the Mandalay region of Myanmar, Bagan is one of the world’s richest archeological sites and has become a primary draw for visitors to Myanmar. Bagan boasts over 2,000 surviving temples dating from as early as the 9th century, spread over more than 100 square kilometers. Aside from temples, Bagan also boasts gorgeous sunsets and exciting local markets.

There are 3 different options to travel the 630km journey from Yangon to Bagan: by bus, train, or flight. The journey overland will be more friendly for your money, but will require some serious travel time. The journey by bus takes about 10 hours ($11) and the train journey 17.5 hours ($16). Flying takes only 1 hour and 20 minutes but will cost at least $85.
