Overview Compare Limo Van Bus Private Transfer To Stay
How to get from Nha Trang to Dalat
Dalat is a misty paradise in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Also known as the City of Eternal Spring, Dalat’s temperate weather and lush plateau make it a favourite destination for honeymooners and outdoor lovers.
At its heart is Xuan Huong Lake, surrounded by lush gardens and European-inspired architecture. Everywhere you look, there are remnants from the French who once made Dalat their summer getaway. Around town, you should explore the many pagodas, waterfalls, and colourful markets.
3 ways to get from Nha Trang to Dalat
You can choose from 3 options when travelling the 135 km distance from Nha Trang to Dalat: a 3-hour limo van, a 4-hour bus, or a 3-hour private transfer. Rates range between $9 (220,000 VND) and $69 (1,623,000 VND).
For a luxurious ride, you can take a limo van with fares from $10 (240,000 VND). Limo vans are only slightly more expensive than the bus, but more comfortable and faster. Also, one of the limo van companies, Lac Hong, offers free hotel pick-up in Nha Trang.
You can also take a bus from Nha Trang to Dalat. Buses are slightly cheaper than the van, but take 1 hour longer because they make more stops. Ticket prices start from $9 (220,000 VND) for the 4-hour journey.
If you prefer a private transfer from Nha Trang to Dalat, rates for a 3-seater car start from $69 (1,623,000 VND). This door-to-door ride takes around 3 hours.
Taking the train is not an option since there is no connecting railway between Nha Trang and Dalat. The only railway in Dalat is a tourist attraction and doesn’t operate trains from Nha Trang.
Although there is an airport 30 km south of Dalat (Lien Khuong Airport), there are no direct flights. Flights from Nha Trang to Dalat make a stopover in Ho Chi Minh so the journey takes at least 5 hours. Plus, taking a bus or limo van is way less harmful to the environment.
Nha Trang to Dalat by Limo Van
We recommend travelling by limo van from Nha Trang to Dalat. Limo van tickets are slightly more expensive than the bus. But in return, you get a luxurious ride in a van with great seats.
Lac Hong and Cuc Tung are 2 trusted companies operating limo vans from Nha Trang to Dalat. Fares start from $10 (240,000 VND) for the 3-hour journey.
Which limo van to take?
We recommend travelling with Lac Hong Luxury Minivan because it gets very good reviews. Their drivers are highly-praised for good and safe driving, while their vans are known to be clean and comfortable. Also, they offer free hotel pick-up in Nha Trang.
Lac Hong offers 4 trips daily. And on weekends, tickets sell out fast. So it’s best to book a ticket with Lac Hong at least a week in advance!
We’ve only heard about good experiences with Lac Hong so far and that’s why we recommend booking with Lac Hong if you want to travel by van from Nha Trang to Dalat.
Note: One other popular company operating on this route is Catthienhai Travel. However, we have received several complaints about this company and that is why we DO NOT recommend booking with Catthienhai Travel.

Travelling by bus from Nha Trang to Dalat takes 1 hour longer compared to taking a minivan.
With ticket prices from $9 (220,000 VND), the bus is only slightly cheaper. We don’t think the savings is worth the comfort and speed you’ll otherwise get with a minivan ride.

Dear GeckRoutes-Team
Thank you for your informative website!
I just like to inform you that we just had a very bad experience with BookAway and Catthienhai Travel.
We waited more than two hours in the hotel in Nha Trang for the pick-up of the Catthienhai Travel luxury Mini-Van to Da Lat. During that time I tried to reach BookAway by Chat, What’s up and email, but couldn’t reach anyone and got no answer until 8pm at night, which means 6 hours later.
As we had to sit then in the last row of the car and there was the luggage in the end too, we couldn’t change our backrest and there was no water, as promised, in the car.
In addition the driver could not speak any English. When we arrived in Da Lat he just kicked us out of the Minivan somewhere on a street, so that we had to take a taxi to reach our hotel.
We paid for a luxury Minivan but received the poorest service ever in Vietnam! Now I just received an email from BookAway saying that he had called Catthienhai Travel and heard we had to wait a bit for the transfer! That’s really a very bad service and we think people should be warned not to book anything through BookAway or Catthienhai Travel.
Best regards,
Peter&Claudia from Switzerland
Hello Claudia! Many thanks for sharing your experience and I’m sorry to hear that. Like we stated in the text, we already received a complaint about Catthienhai before and that’s why we recommended to book with another company. However, after reading your experience we decided to change the text from a gentle warning to an explicit recommendation of not to book with them.
Unfortunately, it happens from time to time that travellers need to wait more than 1 hour on the pick-up, but waiting 2 hours is unacceptable. Especially in combination with your other complaints. Regarding BookAway, I’m sorry to hear about the disappointing communication with them. I personally had very good experience with BookAway and I know they are determined to deliver the best customer service. In the past, they already removed companies from their platform after receiving too many complaints and I’m sure they take this case serious as well. I just sent them a personal email to make sure this case will get the deserved attention.
Again, thanks for sharing your experience and I hope you still have a wonderful trip despite the inconvenience of this bus trip.
Safe Travels!
Maarten
