Bus/van from Nha Trang to DaLat
4,5 hours, 120.000 VND (€5)
Train from Nha Trang to DaLat
Taking the train is not an option since there is no connecting railway between DaLat and Nha Trang. The only railway in DaLat is a tourist attraction and doesn’t operate trains to Nha Trang.
Flight from Nha Trang to DaLat
Although there is an airport 30km south of DaLat (Lien Khuong Airport), there are no direct flights. Flights from Nha Trang to DaLat make a stopover in Ho Chi Minh. This means that the journey takes at least 5 hours excluding the time it takes to get to and from the airports. Plus, taking the bus is way less harmful for the environment.
Option 1: Van
Route: Nha Trang DaLat
Duration: 4,5 hours
Costs: 120.000 VND (€5)
The bus is not the safest option in Vietnam, but for this route it’s the only option. Luckily there are some good options on this route, including a luxurious limousine Van!
Duration: 3 hours
Costs: 209.000 VND (€8)
Since last year (2018), two new bus company called “Minh Tri Limousine” and “Catthienhai Travel” started to operate on the route from Nha Trang to Da Lat.
Tickets are slightly more expensive than the bus, but in return, you get a luxurious ride in a van with great seatings. Also, do they include free pick-up at your hotel in Nha Trang and drop off at your hotel in Dalat.
Minh Tri Limousine
Minh Tri Limousine leaves 2 times a day, one at 12:00 and one at 16:30. The journey takes about 3 hours
Note that especially tickets from Minh Tri Limousine tend to sell out fast. Luckily, BookAway offers free cancellation up to 72 hours before departure.
We received a complaint about Cattheinhai Travel: One of my readers let me know they had a bad experience with Catthienhai Travel. The driver was driving too fast and she was almost covered with bruises from being slammed from side to side. The woman next to her was vomiting for one hour straight and the driver didn’t want to stop…
Due to the experience shared above, we prefer Minh Tri Limousine over Catthienhai Travel. We only heard good experiences with Minh Tri so far and that’s why we only recommend booking with Minh Tri if you want to travel by van.
If you travelled with one of these vans, it would be great if you can share your experience in a comment below!
Sinh Tourist, Hanh Cafe and Futa Bus
Duration: 4 hours
Costs: 120.000 VND (€5,00)
The two most well-known companies are ‘Sinh Tourist’ and ‘Hanh Cafe’. They operate buses that they leave from Nha Trang center and also drop you off in the center of DaLat. But, take in mind that these buses only leave 2 times a day at 7:30 or 13:00.
Another bus company is Futa bus, but this company doesn’t have our preference. They don’t have a great reputation and do not depart from the center of Nha Trang and do also not drop you in the center of DaLat.
