How to get from Split to Brac
Brac is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, located between Split and Hvar. Brac is nowhere near as popular as its neighbours though, and that just adds to its charm. Those who do choose to visit Brac are rewarded with quiet time with nature, as well as a genuine island experience.
Brac is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia — Zlatni Rat Beach (Golden Horn) — thanks to its unique shape and surrounding crystal clear turquoise waters. Another charm of Brac is its world-class olive oil. There are over a million olive trees on the island, and Brac is Croatia’s largest olive plantation!

Most visitors travelling to Brac stay in Bol. For that reason, the direct ferry from Split to Bol is the most convenient option. The ferry will take you directly from Split town centre to Bol. Ticket prices start from 165 KN (€22.00) for the 1-hour journey.
A cheaper alternative when heading to Bol from Split is the bus. A bus ticket costs only 85 KN (€11.00), but travel time is longer at 2 hours 40 minutes because buses take the long way through Supetar on Brac Island’s north coast.
Looking for a private transfer? There are also private speedboats operating from Split to Brac. If you’re coming from Split Airport, this option already includes free pick-up by minivan. Of course, this luxury comes with a price. Rates start from 4,000 KN (€530.00) for a speedboat that can fit 4 people.
There is also an option to enter Brac through Milna on the west coast. Milna is nearer to Split, so the ferry journey is faster. However, we recommend this route only if you’re really planning to visit Milna. Because if you’re not, then it’s another 1.5-hour journey from Milna to Bol. Prices start at 85 KN (€11.00).
If you’re travelling from Split to Brac by car, you can easily take a car ferry via Supetar. There are several departures daily all year round, which is also ideal for foot passengers travelling outside the summer season (June to September). Rates for both the passenger and car start from 240 KN ($34.00), and travel time is around one hour.
Looking to visit the island only for a day? Day trips are also available from Split to Brac. The tour takes around 7 hours and rates start from 720 KN (€96.00) per person.
Split to Brac (Bol) by High-Speed Ferry
The high-speed ferry is a convenient and direct way to get from Split to Brac’s main tourist area, Bol. There are three companies operating on this route: KSC Naranca, Kapetan Luka and Jadrolinija.
Option 1: High-speed ferries from Split to Brac
KSC Naranca and Kapetan Luka both offer high-speed ferry trips during the summer season (June to September). We recommend travelling with these companies because their seats are reserved — meaning you will get a seat on your desired date and time as long as you already have a ticket.
Ferry rates start from 165 KN (€22.00).
High-speed ferry schedule from Split to Brac
Ferry Operator | Schedule | Costs |
---|---|---|
KSC Naranca (June-Sept) | 09:00-10:00 11:45-12:45 | 165 KN (€22.00) Check Ferry Tickets |
Kapetan Luka (June-Sept) | 07:30-08:20 | 180 KN (€24.00) Check Ferry Tickets |
You can buy your tickets at the ticket booths at Split Ferry Terminal, but it’s worth noting that there’s usually a long line for ferry tickets during summer. You will have to queue up at least an hour before your target ferry departure, and even then there is no guarantee that you can secure a ticket.
Instead of waiting under the blazing sun for an hour, we recommend booking your ticket online beforehand through BookAway. This way, you can take your sweet time going to the pier and arrive just in time for your ferry’s departure.
Whether you’re buying your tickets at the pier or online, double-check the latest schedules beforehand to avoid any hassle and disappointment on the day of your trip!
Option 2: Jadrolinija ferry from Split to Brac
The Jadrolinija catamaran operates all year round, a good thing to note if you’re visiting Brac in the colder months. But in summer, when ferries are often fully-booked, it may not be a good idea to book a ferry trip with Jardolinija.
This company operates on a full=full system. This means that even though you already have a ticket for a specific date and time, you are not guaranteed a seat. If the ferry’s already full, you’ll have to wait for the next trip. This is why we recommend travelling with KSC Naranca or Kapetan Luka instead.
Ticket prices for Jadrolinija start from 150 KN (€20.00) for the 1-hour ferry journey.

The arrival pier at Brac is Bol Port on the island’s south coast, which is also close to hotels and restaurants in the area.
Split to Brac (Bol) by Bus
Looking for a more affordable way to get to Bol from Split? The bus is your best choice during summer. Bus fares from Split to Bol costs only 85 KN (€11.00), half the price of a ferry ticket.
There’s a catch, though. Buses operating on this route first take a car ferry from Split to Supetar on Brac’s north coast. From here, the bus travels overland to Bol on the south coast. Travel time with the bus takes around 2 hours 40 minutes.
While you save on costs, you spend more time on the journey when taking the bus to Brac from Split. But if you’re not in a hurry, it’s worth noting that you can enjoy amazing views along the way.

Split to Brac (Milna) by High-Speed Ferry
While most visitors prefer to stay in Bol, some travellers like to stay in Milna.
Located 45 km northwest of Bol, Milna is a Dalmatian fishing village and is often called the most beautiful harbour in Brac. This village is also a good entry point when exploring the island.
We recommend taking a ferry to Milna only if you’re really planning to explore this side of Brac. The ferry journey from Split to Milna can be as fast as 25 minutes, but the overland transfer to Bol will add an extra hour to the journey.
Which ferry company to take?
There are four ferry companies operating on the Split to Milna route. These are Kapetan Luka, TP Line, Jadrolinija and KSC Naranca.
We recommend travelling with Kapetan Luka or KSC Naranca. For this route, they are the only companies available every day during summer. They also have reserved seating for ticket holders, making them well worth the extra euros you spend.
KSC Naranca, although cheaper, is available only on weekends. Meanwhile, Jadrolinija runs only on Wednesdays and maintains a full=full system, which means that having a ticket is not equivalent to having a guaranteed seat.
A ferry ride from Split to Brac via Milna takes 25-65 minutes depending on the ferry. Ticket prices for the high-speed ferries start from 85 KN (€11.00).
Departure and arrival station
Ferries from Split to Milna also depart from Split Ferry Port near Split town centre.
The arrival port is Milna Port on the island’s west coast. If you want to travel to Bol from Milna, you can take a 1-hour taxi ride with rates from 468 KN (€62.00).
If you’re on a budget, you can save costs when you take the bus from Milna to Bol. This involves a bus to Supetar, and then another bus to Bol. Combined bus prices start from 77 KN (€10.00), and travel time is around 1.5 hours.

Our favourite places to stay in Brac
Important: Tourism in Croatia is very seasonal. Much of the available accommodation in Croatia is fully booked in the summer, but many sites are closed in the winter months. With July and August being the peak season, rates can rise 3 times as high as compared the low season or shoulder months. We recommend booking your accommodation at least 1 month in advance to lock in better rates.
