We do not recommend to travel by bus and ferry since this will take at least 10 hours when you include transfer time. Still, want to take the bus and ferry? Book a bus to Rach Gia harbor and take the ferry from here to Phu Quoc Island.
When traveling from the Mekong Delta, the ferry can be more convenient than traveling back to Ho Chi Minh and taking a flight.

We recommend booking a taxi from the airport to the main tourist area. Expect to pay around 100.000 VND (€4) for a taxi to Long Beach and about 160.000 VND (€6) to Duong Dong town.
Alternatively, you can also take a shuttle bus for 50.000 VND (€2).

Option 2: Bus + Ferry
Route: Ho Chi Minh Phu Quoc

The bus ride takes about 6 hrs and the ferry another 2,5 hr. But, also leave some extra time in between the arrival time of the bus and the departure time of the ferry.
Since there are no ferries leaving after 13:30, you will have to take an early morning bus leaving before 6:00.

Phuong Trang (Futa bus)
Costs: 155.000 VND (€6), duration: 6 hours
Futa bus (Phuong Trang) departs from Ho Chi Minh to Rach Gia almost every 30 minutes. Tickets costs 145.000 VND (€5) and the bus takes a bit over 6 hours.
Ask the bus company if they can drop you off at Rach Gia harbor. Don’t forget to ask this, since their end station is almost 30 minutes from this harbor!
Costs: 230.000 VND (€9), duration: 6 hours
Another bus company operating on this route is Kumho Samco.
Tickets cost 230.000 VND (€9) and they also have buses leaving almost every hour. This bus ride will also take about 6 hours. The end station of this bus is just a 10-minute walk to the ferry port.

Ferry: Rach Gia Harbour Phu Quoc
Duration: 2hr 15 min
Costs: 340.000 VND (€13)
Make sure you have at least 2 hours between the arrival time of the bus and the departure time of the last ferry to Phu Quoc. We recommend taking this safety margin in case the bus has any delay.
