When taking the train from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh, you can depart from either Phan Thiet or Binh Thuan railway stations. Neither of these is located in the centre of Mui Ne, but you can take a bus or taxi to get to your preferred station. We give you more details about both train stations below.
Although we prefer the comforts of a train seat, travelling by bus is also a good option for this route. You can get a bus that departs from the centre of Mui Ne and also drops you off in the centre of Ho Chi Minh.
For a door-to-door transfer, you can get a private car from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh. Rates start from 1,810,000 VND ($74.00) for a 3-seater sedan.
Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh by Train
There are no direct trains from the centre of Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh.
Trains from Mui Ne depart from either Phan Thiet or Binh Thuan Railway Station. You can get to these stations by bus or taxi from Mui Ne city centre.
Step 1: Mui Ne to Phan Thiet/Binh Thuan by Bus/Taxi
If you’re taking a day train from either Phan Thiet or Binh Thuan, you can get there by Bus #9 from Mui Ne centre. A ticket costs 35,000 VND ($1.40). Travel time is 1 hour to Phan Thiet and 1.5 hours to Binh Thuan.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi for around 350,000 VND ($14.00) to Phan Thiet and 500,000 VND ($20.50) to Binh Thuan.

Step 2: Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh by Train
You can choose from two railway stations: Phan Thiet (30 km away) or Binh Thuan (40 km away).
We recommend departing from Phan Thiet because it is closer to Mui Ne. More trains are available from Binh Thuan, but most of these trips leave very early morning.
Option 1: Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh by Train
There is only one train that operates daily from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh via Phan Thiet. Travel time is around 4.5 hours.
Ticket prices for a soft seat start from 250,000 VND ($10.00) when you buy them at Phan Thiet Train Station.
You can also buy your tickets online. But the last time we checked (November 2022), you can only do this through the Vietnam Railways website. Here, a ticket costs 450,000 VND ($18.50). That’s almost double the price compared to buying them at the train station.

Option 2: Binh Thuan to Ho Chi Minh by Train
If the departure time of the train from Phan Thiet is not convenient for you, there are more schedules available from Binh Thuan Railway Station, formerly known as Muong Man.
It’s worth noting that most trains for this route depart very early morning. Travel time is 3.5 hours.

Step 3: Ho Chi Minh Railway Station to Ho Chi Minh Centre by Taxi
You are to get off at Saigon Railway Station, which you can find at Ho Chi Minh’s District 3. If your hotel is in the backpacker area in District 1, you can get there via a 10-minute taxi for around 75,000 VND ($3.00).
Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh by Bus
When you decide to travel by bus from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh, we recommend travelling with Hanh Café. This bus company leaves and arrives at the centre of both cities.
Bus ticket prices start from 194,000 VND ($8.00) for the 5-hour journey.
Futa Bus and Kumho Samco also operate on this route and offer more trips daily. However, their departure and arrival points are quite far from the city centre. You will spend extra costs and time when going to and from their bus stations.
Departure stations
Hanh Cafe departs from its headquarters in Mui Ne, 4 km southwest of Mui Ne Beach. You can get here by taxi for around 130,000 VND ($5.00).
Futa Bus leaves from its office in Phan Thiet, 9 km west of Mui Ne Beach. You can reach this via a 10-minute taxi from the beach for around 170,000 VND ($7.00).
Kumho Samco departs from North Phan Thiet Bus Station, 25 km west of Mui Ne Beach. To get here from Mui Ne town centre, you can take Bus #9 for 35,000 VND ($1.40). You can also take a 30-minute taxi for around 350,000 VND ($14.00).

Arrival stations
Hanh Cafe arrives at Kim Travel Office in District 1. From here, it’s a 5-minute walk to Ho Chi Minh’s Pham Ngu Lao.
Futa Bus parks at the Western Bus Station, 9 km west of Pham Ngu Lao. You can reach Ho Chi Minh’s tourist centre by taking a taxi for around 200,000 VND ($8.00).
Kumho Samco arrives at the Eastern Bus Station (Ben Xe Mien Dong), 19 km south of Pham Ngu Lao. That’s a 30-minute taxi to District 1 for about 370,000 VND ($15.00).
Alternative: Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh by Limovan
For more comfort and luxury, you can also travel with a limovan.
Take 3S Limo if you want a direct ride to Ho Chi Minh’s tourist centre in plush seats that come with touchscreen TVs. Take G5Car if you’re heading straight to Ho Chi Minh Airport from Mui Ne.
Limovan fares start from 398,000 VND ($16.00) and travel time is around 5 hours.
