Taxi + Flight + Bus from DaLat to Hoi An

We recommend taking the flight from DaLat to Hoi An. You can book a direct flight which costs around 100 euro’s and just takes 1,5 hours. Want a cheaper option? Then you can also buy an indirect flight for about 70 euro’s. This indirect flight takes about 4 hours in total.
Bus + Train + Bus from DaLat to Hoi An
16 hours, 659.000 VND (€25)
If you want to save some money, you can also travel by bus from DaLat to Nha Trang. From Nha Trang, you can take the sleeper train to Hoi An.
When you take the morning bus from DaLat to Nha Trang, you can even spend the afternoon on the beach in Nha Trang. After having some dinner in Nha Trang you can continue with the night train to DaNang. If you don’t mind carrying your luggage around, this is a great option.

Bus from DaLat to Hoi An

There are also direct buses from DaLat to Hoi An, but it will be a very long journey. We prefer the train or flight because this is also much safer than the bus.

Lien Khuong is the airport of DaLat and takes 45 minutes by taxi from the city center. Expect to pay 200.000 VND (€7,50) for a taxi to DaLat airport.

Plane: Lien Khuong Da Nang Airport
Duration: 1h 20min
Costs: 2.769.079 VND (€105)
There are several flights leaving from DaLat airport (Lien Khuong) to Da Nang airport. Vietnam Airlines has direct flights which take 1,5 hour to DaNang. These ticket prices start from 2.471.152 VND (€92), but it’s more likely you have to pay around 3.000.000 VND (€111).
When you want to save some money, you can also book an indirect flight with Vietjet Air for 1.256.210 VND (€47). This flight will have a stop-over in Ho Chi Minh and takes about 6 hours in total.

Shuttle Bus: Da Nang Airport Hoi An

Option 2: Bus + Train + Bus
Route: DaLat Nha Trang Hoi An
Duration: 16 hours
Costs: 888.000 VND (€34)
DaLat doesn’t have its own railway station. This means you have to go to Nha Trang first if you want to travel to Hoi An. From Nha Trang, you can catch the nigh train to DaNang and then take the public bus or a shuttle bus early in the morning to Hoi An center.

Duration: 4 hours
Costs: 120.000 VND (€4,50)
We recommend booking a bus with ‘The Sinh Tourist’ or ‘Hanh Cafe’. These buses leave at 7:30 and 13:00.
If you take a morning bus to Nha Trang you still have some time to take a dip in the ocean before you catch the train to Hoi An. The drop-off point of the bus is a 10-min ride to the center of Nha Trang.

Train: Nha Trang Da Nang
Duration: 10 hours
Costs: 748.000 VND (€28,50)
From Nha Trang, you can catch one of the night trains leaving to Hoi An at either 20:04 or 23:51. The railway station in Nha Trang is just a 10-min walk from the city center. The late departure times of the night train makes it possible to have dinner and maybe some drinks in the center of Nha Trang before catching the train.

From DaNang railway station to Hoi An center takes 45 minutes by public bus. The buses are waiting just outside of the railway station.

Option 3: Bus
Route: DaLat Hoi An
Duration: 17 hours
Costs: 347.932 VND (€13)
All buses from DaLat to Hoi An go via Nha Trang. This makes the journey quite long. Depending on the driver the bus ride can take between 12 and 17 hours. (Yes this time difference is huge. And that’s why we keep telling buses are not the safest option!)
When you decide to travel by bus, we recommend traveling with Hanh Cafe.
