When travelling the 670km journey from Ninh Binh to Da Nang, you have 3 options: you can take the train for 14.5 hours ($31.50), a flight, including bus transfers for at least 5.5 hours ($30.50), or a bus for at least 11.5 hours ($15.50).
The option we recommened is to take the train when travelling from Ninh Binh to Da Nang. The train ride takes up to 14.5 hours, but the good part is that you can travel by night so you don’t lose a lot of daytime on travelling. Train beds are also quite comfortable so you can just take a good rest and be fully charged once you arrive in Da Nang.
The flight may be the fastest option, but it includes several transfers. Including waiting time for the plane, you will have to travel for more than half a day. Total cost starts from $30.50.
Travelling on a budget? The bus is the way to go. The bus is the cheapest option at $15.50 and travel time take 11-12 hours. Keep in mind that the bus companies operating on this route do not receive the best reviews and it can be a very uncomfortable ride.
Ninh Binh doesn’t have its own airport, so you will first have to travel by land to Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. From there, you can hop on a flight going to Da Nang. See the step-by-step guide below.

Although the bus is the cheapest option at 360,000 VND ($15.50), we don’t really recommend it when travelling from Ninh Binh to Da Nang. We have yet to see a good review for any of the companies on this route. Some complaints include disorganized schedule, rude staff, and overbooked buses resulting in some passengers sleeping on the floor.
Needless to say, taking the bus is risky. But if you still want to try it, here are some bus schedules:
