---|---|---|---|---|
Flug + Fähre | 4-4,5 Stunden | 1,131 THB ($31.50) | Artikel lesen für mehr Infos | |
Bus + Fähre | 17,5 Stunden | 1,163 THB ($32.00) | Artikel lesen für mehr Infos | |
Zug + Van + Fähre | 22 Stunden | 1,700 THB ($47.00) | Artikel lesen für mehr Infos |
The distance from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi is 695 km (430 miles). In this post, we compare the 3 options to travel from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi: by flight + ferry (4-4.5 hours), by bus + ferry (13-17.5 hours), or by train + ferry (22 hours). Ticket prices range from 1,131 THB ($31.50) to 1,700 THB ($47.00).
For both the flight and the bus options, you can choose from two different routes: via Krabi or via Phuket. The two routes are quite similar, so it just really depends on your budget and preference. We recommend reading through our in-depth guide below so you can make an informed choice.
The flight + ferry is the fastest option at 4-4.5 hours. Fares for the combined journey can be as low as 1,131 THB ($31.50) when you book your flight early. It’s not always easy to find such a deal though, so many travellers take the night bus instead.
TIPP: Wenn du dich entscheidest, mit dem Flugzeug zu reisen, überlege dir, ob du nicht eine Kompensationsgebühr einplanen willst, um die Umweltbelastung zu reduzieren.
A combined bus and ferry ticket can be cheaper when travelling from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi during peak season. It’s a long bus ride, but most buses travel overnight so you can just sleep through the journey. Tickets start at 1,163 THB ($32.00) and the journey takes at least 13 hours.
There is also an option to take a train to Koh Phi Phi from Bangkok, but we don’t think that’s a good idea. Travelling by train involves many transfers and takes at least 22 hours. But if you’re planning to make a stop in Surat Thani or hoping to visit Koh Phangan, Koh Samui or Koh Tao, this is a good route to take.
Bangkok nach Koh Phi Phi per Flug
The fastest way to get to the stunning islands of Koh Phi Phi from Bangkok is by flight. You can do this in two ways: via Krabi or via Phuket. Both routes are good options. And you can also consider staying for a day or two in either Krabi or Phuket.
A note: there are two airports in Bangkok, and both have flights going to Krabi and Phuket. To know how to get to these airports, check out our detailed guides for Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport.
See below for a step-by-step guide when flying from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi via Krabi and via Phuket.
Option 1: Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi by Flight via Krabi
Flying from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi via Krabi is the cheaper option when you’re travelling solo.
You take a flight from Bangkok to Krabi, take a minivan from Krabi Airport to Klong Jilad Pier, and then transfer to a ferry going to Koh Phi Phi. The entire journey takes a little more than 4 hours.
Schritt 1: Flug von Bangkok nach Krabi
There are a good number of airlines operating daily flights from Bangkok to Krabi. Vietjet Air often offers the cheapest flights, but Air Asia and Bangkok Airways generally also offer affordable rates all year round.
Airfares start from 570 THB ($15.50), but can go as high as 1,200 THB ($33.50) during the busy season. It’s best to check Skyscanner for the best rates. The earlier you book your flight, the better the chance of securing cheaper fares.
Flight time to Krabi from Bangkok is around 1.5 hours.
Step 2: Krabi Airport to Klong Jilad Pier, Krabi
Most ferries bound for Koh Phi Phi depart from Krabi’s Klong Jilad Pier.
From Krabi Airport, the best way to get to Klong Jilad Pier is via a 40-minute minivan. You can get your ride at the airport or you can book one beforehand through BookAway. A minivan ticket costs 170 THB ($4.70).
When travelling in a group, you may be able to save on costs by taking a private transfer. Prices start from 540 THB ($15.00) for a car that can already fit 9 people.
NOTE: There are other piers in Krabi where you can get a ferry going to Koh Phi Phi. These are Nopparat Thara Pier and East Railay. When heading to these ports, you can also catch a shuttle van or taxi from Krabi Airport.
Step 3: Krabi to Koh Phi Phi by Ferry
At Klong Jilad Pier, you can choose from several boat companies operating the Krabi-Koh Phi Phi route. Both ferries and speedboats are available.
Ferries are bigger, slower and cheaper — with fares from 391 THB ($10.50). If you’re not prone to motion sickness and prefer to go fast, a speedboat ticket costs around 920 PHP ($16.00).
Travel time from Krabi to Koh Phi Phi is about 2 hours with a ferry and 1 hour with a speedboat.

This option is a little more expensive with rates from 813 THB ($22.50), but worth the extra cost if you’re looking for a more hassle-free mode of transport. Travel time is 2-3 hours.

You should be able to book a combined van and ferry transfer at Krabi Airport. But if you prefer to buy your tickets online in advance, both Seatran Discovery and Ramon Transport are available on Bookaway. It’s worth noting, though, that Ramon Transport is cheaper when you book through 12go.Asia.
Option 2: Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi by Flight via Phuket
Taking a flight from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi via Phuket is not at all a bad idea, just a little more expensive than flying via Krabi, especially when you’re travelling solo.
Combined fares start from 2,090 THB ($58.00) — which includes the flight from Bangkok to Phuket, the taxi from Phuket Airport to Rassada Pier and the ferry going to Koh Phi Phi.
Schritt 1: Mit dem Flugzeug von Bangkok zum Flughafen Phuket
Phuket is a popular destination in the south of Thailand, so you won’t have a problem booking a flight from Bangkok.
There are many airlines offering multiple trips daily. Airfares range from 960 THB ($26.50) to 1,500 THB ($41.50) for the 1.5-hour flight.
Schritt 2: Flughafen Phuket zum Rassada Pier, Phuket
From Phuket Airport, the best way to get to the pier is by taxi, especially when you’re travelling in a group.
Most ferries to Koh Phi Phi depart from Rassada Pier, but there are also departures from Sea Angel, Yamu, and Bang Rong Piers.
Taxis from Phuket Airport are metered and as long as you get your ride at the official taxi stand, you can expect a fair price going to Rassada Pier. That’s about 750 THB ($20.50). It’s worth noting, though, that Phuket taxis are quite small — just good enough for two passengers with large pieces of luggage.
If you want a bigger car, consider booking your taxi online through BookAway, with fares from 780 THB ($21.50) for a 3-seater vehicle.
You can also try hailing a taxi through Grab, which is now allowed to pick up passengers from Phuket Airport, according to Bangkok Post. Grab rates should be cheaper than airport taxi rates.
Alternative: Bus + Taxi from Phuket Airport to Rassada Pier
When travelling solo, a cheaper option is to ride the airport bus to the Phuket Bus Terminal 1. This costs 120 THB ($3.30) and takes 1-1.5 hours.
Once at the bus terminal, you can hail a tuk-tuk, taxi, or book a Grab taxi to Rassada Pier. Grab rates start at 95 THB ($2.60) for the 10-minute ride.
If you’re travelling light, there’s also an option to take a motorbike taxi with fares from 80 THB ($2.20) – 100 THB ($2.70).
Schritt 3: Rassada Pier, Phuket nach Koh Phi Phi mit der Fähre
The ferry ride to Koh Phi Phi takes about 2 hours and prices start at 380 THB ($10.50).
You can also opt for a speedboat, which is a bit more expensive but much faster. Although if you are prone to seasickness, the speedboat probably isn’t a good idea. A speedboat ride takes about 1 hour and ticket prices start from 612 THB ($17.00).
For ferry schedules and more info, read our detailed guide on how to get from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi.
Alternative: Combined from Phuket Airport to Koh Phi Phi

Organising the van and ferry trips from Phuket Airport to Koh Phi Phi independently will cost you around 630 THB ($17.50) per person.
Booking combined tickets, on the other hand, will cost at least 920 THB ($25.50) — more expensive, but also more convenient because you won’t have to worry about the transfers.
Bangkok nach Koh Phi Phi mit Bus und Fähre
Taking a combination of the bus and ferry from Bangkok to Koh Phi Phi is another popular option. A great advantage is that buses travel during the night. That means you can save a night on accommodation and won’t waste an entire day on travelling.
