The island of Koh Lipe is a water lover’s dream come true!
Located in the Andaman Sea, near the Malaysian border, lays the picturesque island of Koh Lipe. Expect amazing snorkelling and diving on crystal clear, blue waters. You can spend your days exploring the beaches and enjoy your evenings watching the sunset and taking in a fire show.
To travel the 185km from Phuket to Koh Lipe, you have 2 options; board a ferry for 5 hours or take a combined bus and ferry for nearly 13 hours. The bus will cost you $35. While the ferry is more expensive at $84.50, it does cut the travel time in half.
Note that all ferries dock on a floating platform in front of Pattaya Beach on Koh Lipe. You will have to pay an additional 50 THB ($1.70) for a long-tail boat ride to the shore.
Be sure to check the weather prior to booking your ferry trip from Phuket to Koh Lipe. Ferries may be suspended if the weather is not favourable. During the low season (April to mid-October), be aware that fewer ferries operate on this route.

Travelling by bus and ferry from Phuket to Koh Lipe is not the best option as it takes almost twice as long. It does, however, serve as a good alternative if going by ferry doesn’t work for you or if you’re on a tight budget.
