Wind conditions are perfect on this side of the country, making Mui Ne a popular kitesurfing spot from October to April. Other exciting activities include sailing, windsurfing, sandboarding, and quad biking on the sand dunes.
How to get from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
When travelling the 220 km from Nha Trang to Mui Ne, you have 3 options: a 5.5-hour train, a 5-hour bus, and a 4-hour private transfer. Rates range from $7 (167,000 VND) to $82 (1,935,000 VND).
The train is the cheapest way to get from Nha Trang to Mui Ne. Rates start from $7 (167,000 VND) for the 5.5-hour journey. Note that the train will only take you to Binh Thuan Railway Station, from where you can take a bus or taxi to Mui Ne.
The bus is another affordable option with fares from $8 (195,000 VND). Direct buses are available from Nha Trang to Mui Ne, but there are also companies that make their final stop in Phan Thiet, which is still 25 km away from Mui Ne. Keep that in mind when booking your ride.
When travelling in a group, you can take a private transfer. Rates start from $82 (1,935,000 VND) for a car that can fit up to 5 people. Travel time is around 4 hours.
Nha Trang to Mui Ne by Train + Bus
When travelling by train from Nha Trang to Mui Ne, you are to get off at Binh Thuan Railway Station (which used to be called Muong Man). Don’t confuse this with Phan Thiet Railway Station, the main train station in Mui Ne.
Step 1: Nha Trang to Binh Thuan by Train
There are 6 trains operating daily from Nha Trang to Binh Thuan. Travel time is 4-5 hours and ticket prices start from $5.50 (132,000 VND).
Trains depart from Nha Trang Train Station, some 2 km west of Nha Trang Beach. You are to get off at Binh Thuan Railway Station, which is still 40 km away from Mui Ne Beach.
Train schedules from Nha Trang to Binh Thuan (Soft Seats)
The abovementioned schedules are the only ones we recommend when taking the train from Nha Trang to Mui Ne via Binh Thuan Railway Station. There are 4 other trains available, but they arrive in the middle of the night in Mui Ne.
If you arrive at night, you might have a hard time getting a ride to the city centre. And if you manage to get a taxi, you might have to pay an exorbitant amount for it.
Step 2: Binh Thuan to Mui Ne by Bus or Taxi
From Binh Thuan Railway Station, you can take a bus or taxi to get to Mui Ne.
For the bus, take Bus #9, which is available daily from 05:30 to 18:00. The closest bus stop from Binh Thuan is at T-Junction, about a 5-minute walk. A bus ticket costs $1.40 (35,000 VND) and the journey takes around 1.5 hours.
Alternatively, you can take a 1-hour taxi with rates from $21 (500,000 VND).

Nha Trang to Mui Ne by Bus
When travelling by bus, you have an option to take one that goes directly from Nha Trang to Mui Ne. These buses are operated by Hanh Cafe and Tam Hanh Travel.
Other operators for this route are An Phu Travel and Kumho Samco, but they only take you from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet.
Fares for the direct buses start from $8 (195,000 VND) and travel time is around 5 hours.
Bus schedule from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
Buses depart from varying points in Nha Trang. Some in the city centre like An Phu and Tam Hanh Travel. As for Hanh Cafe and Kumho Samco, you can reach their terminals via taxi because they’re a bit outside the city centre.
In Mui Ne, only Hanh Cafe and Tam Hanh arrive in the city centre. Kumho Samco parks at North Phan Thiet Bus Station and An Phu Travel arrives at its own headquarters in Phan Thiet — both are about 25 km west of Mui Ne Beach.
The Sinh Tourist also operates on this route, but the last time we checked (December 2022), their tickets cannot be reserved beforehand. You can only purchase tickets directly at The Sinh Tourist office in Nha Trang city centre.
Optional: Phan Thiet to Mui Ne by Bus or Taxi
If you travel with Kumho Samco and An Phu Travel, your bus will only take you up to Phan Tiet. From here, it’s a 1-hour bus or 45-minute taxi to Mui Ne centre.
A bus ticket costs only $1.40 (35,000 VND). Find the nearest bus stop for Bus #9, which is available from 05:30-18:00.
If you’re arriving in Phan Thiet beyond the public bus operating hours, your only option is to take a taxi to Mui Ne. Rates start from $14.50 (350,000 VND).
Nha Trang to Mui Ne by Private Transfer
When travelling in a group, you can also consider taking a private transfer from Nha Trang to Mui Ne. Fares start from $82 (1,935,000 VND) for a car that can fit up to 5 people.
