How to get from Quy Nhon to Hoi An

We recommend traveling from Quy Nhon to Hoi An by train. You can take a train from Dieu Tri to Da Nang and then take a public bus to Hoi An. This total journey from Quy Nhon to Hoi An takes about 6 hours in total and is a convenient way of traveling.

There are direct buses from Quy Nhon to Hoi An, but they are not as safe and comfortable as the train. There are several reports that bus drivers don’t drive safely on this specific route. Unfortunately, you cannot book your bus tickets online.

The closest airport to Quy Nhon is Phu Cat and takes about 1 hour from Quy Nhon. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights leaving from here to Hoi An. All flights stop in Ho Chi Minh before flying to Quy Nhon. This makes the travel time by flight the same as taking the train. For this reason, we do not recommend to fly this route but to take the train instead.

Quy Nhon to Hoi An travelroute




Trainm Quy Nhon to Hoi An

Duration: 6,5 hours
Costs: 260.000 VND (€10)

When you travel by train from Quy Nhon to Hoi An, you have to take the train from Dieu Tri to DaNang. From DaNang railway station takes about 45 minutes to the center of Hoi An.

Step 1: Bus/Taxi from Quy Nhon to Dieu Tri Railway Station

Duration: 30min
Costs: 10.000 VND (€0,40)

Dieu Tri railway station is about a 20-minute taxi ride from Quy Nhon. Expect to pay about 100.000 VND (€0,40) for a taxi.

Another option is local bus T22. This bus brings you for less than 1 euro to Dieu Tri railway station. The ride takes about half an hour and the bus departs in front of the CoopMart in the center of Quy Nhon.

Step 2: Train from Dieu Tri to Da Nang

Duration: 5 hours
Costs: 230.000 VND (€9)

There are 8 trains from Die Tri to DaNang, but we only recommend the SE2 and SE4. The other trains arrive either very late or in the middle of the night in DaNang.

Soft seats start from 219.000 VND (€8,50) and sleeper berths start from 302.000 VND (€11,50). If you want to get some extra rest during the train ride, it is definitely worth to consider a sleeper berth for a few euros more.

Step 3: Bus from Da Nang Railway Station to Hoi An

Duration: 45min
Costs: 20.000 VND (€0,80)

From DaNang railway station to Hoi An center takes a 45min by public bus. The buses are waiting just outside of the railway station. You can also book a shuttle bus or taxi if you to arrive closer to your accommodation.

Bus from Quy Nhon to Hoi An

Duration: 5 hours
Costs: 140.000 VND (€5)

There are some bus companies which make a stop in Quy Nhon on the way from Hoi An to Nha Trang Nha.

From Quy Nhon to Hoi An is more difficult to arrange. One of the companies which leave from Quy Nhon to Hoi An is Son Tung.

Son Tung

Departure times are 4:45, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 8:00, 8:30, 10:45 and 15:30. The travel time is 5 hours and ticket costs 140.000 VND (€5) to 170.000 VND (€6).

Note: They use 16-seater buses which are less comfortable as the sleeper buses on other routes in Vietnam. Departure times are just indications and can always change.

Public bus

There is also a public bus leaving one time a day. This bus takes 6 hours and costs around 120.000 VND (€5). Ask at your accommodation or a local agency to book your tickets. The bus departs from ‘Quy Nhon bus station’ in front of the Big C close to the Hypermarket shopping center.
