How To Get From/To Surat Thani Railway Station?

Surat Thani Railway Station is located 15 km west of the town center. To reach the town center from Surat Thani Railway Station you have 2 transportation options; taking a public bus or hiring a taxi. The journey takes only 30-50 minutes depending on which method of transport you choose.

Taking the bus will be good for your wallet at only 20 THB ($0.70) for the ride. Hiring a taxi is more expensive although it offers the convenience of direct drop off at your hotel or desired city center location.

Surat Thani Railway Station by Public Bus

When you leave the Surat Thani Railway Station head over to the parking area where you will see the local buses.

It’s easy to spot the orange-colored public buses which are bound for the town center. A bus ride to the town center costs about 20 THB ($0.70). There are buses every 15 minutes throughout the day although they run less frequently after 19:00.

Depending on traffic, the journey takes about 40-50 minutes to reach the town center from Surat Thani Railway Station. As this is a local bus, it will make numerous stops along the way. This is the cheapest way to get to the town center when travelling from the Surat Thani Railway Station.

 

Taxi

Costs: 140 THB ($4.60)

If you prefer to travel in comfort to the town center, you can hail a taxi. There is a taxi service counter just outside of the train station with a sign that reads with a ‘low-cost taxi service’, head there to find your ride.

The taxi service uses regular cars to transport travellers to different destinations throughout Surat Thani. They charge about 140 THB ($4.60) for the ride into the town center. If you are not going to the town center, you can compare the distance of travelling to the town center (15 km) and your desired destination to ensure the price is fair.

The taxi ride from Surat Thani Railway Station to the town center takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions.
