What to expect when visiting Quy Nhon
Quy Nhon is a luxury resort town in central Vietnam. With its beautiful beaches, picturesque cliffs, and tidy streets, it is popular with the country’s rich and famous. If you’re looking for a more laidback experience, head on to Bai Xep, a remote fishing village with a lovely coast and pristine waters.
Apart from natural beauty, there is a colourful history in Quy Nhon. You will find here the biggest and most well-preserved remnants of the indigenous Champa Kingdom, which ruled Quy Nhon and the surrounding region in the 11th century.
3 ways to get from Hoi An to Quy Nhon
There are 3 ways to travel the distance of 290 kilometers (180 miles) from Hoi An to Quy Nhon by bus (6 hours 40 minutes to 8 hours 15 minutes), Taxi (5 hours 30 minutes) and train (6 hours 55 minutes to 7 hours 55 minutes). The journey duration ranges between 5 hours 30 minutes to 8 hours 15 minutes and the quickest way is by taxi. The lowest priced tickets start from €15.40 for the train.Where to stay in Quy Nhon?

Hoi An to Quy Nhon by Train
There are no direct trains from Hoi An to Quy Nhon. When you want to travel this route by train, you will take one from Da Nang (30 km north of Hoi An) to Dieu Tri (10 km west of Quy Nhon).
Despite the transfers, we recommend taking the train for comfort and safety.
Step 1: Hoi An to Da Nang Railway Station by Minivan
There are 2 ways you can get from Hoi An to Da Nang Train Station: by minivan for around 155,000 VND (€5.70) or by taxi with fares from 440,000 VND (€16.20).
Minivans depart from Hoi An every hour or two daily from 06:00 to 20:00. It’s best to purchase your minivan or private transfer beforehand through BookAway so that you can expect a ride at your desired time.

IMPORTANT: There used to be cheap local buses operating from Hoi An to Da Nang. But the last time we checked (February 2023), these were no longer available.
Step 2: Da Nang to Dieu Tri by Train
From Da Nang, you will take a train to Dieu Tri Railway Station, 10 km northwest of Quy Nhon. Don’t confuse this with Quy Nhon Railway Station, which is not part of the Reunification Line and only receives one train a day from Ho Chi Minh.
There are 5 trains operating daily from Da Nang to Dieu Tri. Travel time is 5h 27m - 6h 26m, depending on which train you take.
Ticket prices start from €9 for a soft seat. If you’re looking to catch up on some sleep, you can also get a sleeper berth with fares from 365,000 VND (€13.40).
We recommend booking your tickets online through BookAway. Their site is intuitive, provides a clear picture of what you can expect, and offers great customer service. If you’re eyeing the best deals, you might occasionally find slightly cheaper tickets on Baolau.
Step 3: Dieu Tri Railway Station to Quy Nhon by Bus/Taxi
From Dieu Tri Railway Station, the cheapest way to get to Quy Nhon is by bus. A bus ticket costs around 20,000 VND (€0.70) for the journey that takes 30 minutes. Take local bus T22, which will bring you up to the CoopMart in the centre of Quy Nhon.
For a direct ride to your hotel, you can also take a 20-minute taxi with rates from 200,000 VND (€7.40).
Hoi An to Quy Nhon by Bus
There are two ways to travel from Hoi An to Quy Nhon by bus:
- Direct bus from Hoi An to Quy Nhon.
- Indirect route: Take a taxi from Hoi An to Da Nang, then continue by bus from Da Nang to Quy Nhon.
Option 1: Direct Bus from Hoi An to Quy Nhon
Direct buses are available if you’re travelling from Hoi An to Quy Nhon. Bus fares start from €15 and the journey takes around 5h 30m - 6h 45m.

Option 2: Indirect Bus via Da Nang
When taking the indirect bus, you can first take a taxi to Da Nang and then transfer to another bus from there to Quy Nhon.
All buses arrive at Quy Nhon Bus Terminal in the city centre. Depending on your hotel’s location in Quy Nhon, you can get there on foot or via a short taxi ride.
Step 1: Hoi An to Da Nang by Taxi
From Hoi An, a taxi is the most convenient way to get to Da Nang Bus Station. Fares start from €15 and the journey takes about 5h 30m - 6h 45m.
Travelling light? You can take a motorbike taxi with rates from 150,000 VND (€5.50). You can hail one from the street or book a moto taxi via Grab.
IMPORTANT: Public Bus #1, which used to be the cheapest option for this route, has stopped operations the last time we checked (February 2023). Book your private transfer online via BookAway so as to not fall victim to drivers offering overpriced taxis.
Step 2: Da Nang to Quy Nhon by Bus
From Da Nang Central Bus Station, you can choose from a few buses to take you to Quy Nhon.
Bus fares start from €12.20 for the journey that takes 5h 40m - 7h 15m.
All buses arrive at Quy Nhon Bus Terminal in the city centre. Depending on your hotel’s location in Quy Nhon, you can get there on foot or via a short taxi ride.
Hoi An to Quy Nhon by Taxi
If you’re looking for a direct ride from Hoi An to Quy Nhon, a private transfer is your only choice.
