How to get from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang

Located north of Vientiane on the Nam Song River in Laos is Vang Vieng. It is set in the midst of towering cliffs and lush paddy fields. Luang Prabang lies at the confluence of Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Here you will find 33 majestic Buddhist temples, vibrant night markets, French-influenced architecture, Indochinese villas, and exquisite food.

Distance from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang is about 185 kilometers by land and taking a van is the only travel option. Travel times vary depending on the bus company but the journey normally takes between 5-6 hours and costs $16.

Since Luang Prabang is not far from the picturesque town of Vang Vieng, most companies operate this route with vans.
